Sorry for not posting in such a long time! Edward and I have both been rather busy of late. I am delighting in editing my thesis currently and have just recently put on a Late event at the British Library, which was thankfully a big success. Anyway, these photographs were actually taken as part of the Late event. My endlessly talented mum, Penny MacBeth, made headdresses inspired by the British Library's Russian Archives (read more about it here). I collaborated with her and researched traditional Russian and Hungarian folk costumes and we took a few photos inspired by our findings! The dolls belonged to my great aunt, we have lots of them all stored away and we plucked these ones out as they were particularly fitting. I love their funny expressions, they look a bit cross and the first one is doing a very well executed bitch face. The costume I'm wearing we bought at Port Eliot Festival last summer, its comprised of a skirt, waistcoat, top, apron and pouch. The underskirt is from a charity shop, the undershirt is an old monsoon dress, my boots are from Bertie and the headdress was made by Penny MacBeth.

A little show about circus
A small selection of photographs from a shoot I did recently for a project I am doing for university. I have to curate a hypothetical exhibition, mine is going to be called 'A little show about circus' concentrating on fashion and its relationship with the circus as a reference. I am really really in love with the fake moustache, I purchased it in a joke shop in Cornwall. Its got wire in it so it can be bent in to any shape, so much fun! This was a collaborative effort between my mum and I, it really made me miss the silly shoots we used to do ! Definitely intend to do more like this, so watch this space !

Eyes wide shut
A while ago this photo was snapped, it was taken before Ed and I went to the Middlesex BA show. Its strange looking at it now, I was going through an obsession with eyes. Anyway nearly everything is vintage except for the brooch on my turban which was made by my mum (Penny MacBeth) and the dress which was borrowed from my mum and is Anokhi for East. My eyebrows aren't very visible in this but they were blue, heres a faintly ridiculous photo that shows their true bluenesss.

Panda Catcher
These pictures were taken for my mum's new exhibition 'China, China' , check out her website for more info , Penny MacBeth Gallery.
I found this great panda jacket in a charity shop in Cornwall, it was £4, such a brilliant bargain. The hat was acquired at the same time and the trousers and shoes are also charity shop finds. I am sipping a singapore sling, my new favourite cocktail; gin, cherry brandy and lemonade topped with a maraschino cherry (or at least thats our version !) YUM!

Spells.
A few months ago a lovely lady from a blog called Style East snapped my photo at the bank holiday Affordable Vintage Fair in Spitalfields. Here are the results ! I like what she ( I don't know her name sorry!) has written I think she got my vibe quite right. I was feeling very witchy and even though it was swelteringly hot, I was longing for autumnal days! The velvet skirt is vintage ghost, that I picked up in a charity shop on Goodge street on the day I started university, a very good find. The shirt was nabbed from my mum and the cape is actually a poncho that Josh's granny gave me and all the charms on my necklaces are my grannies! So its a very beg, borrow, steal outfit but I guess quite a lot of my clothes are like that.
Its always seems strange reflecting on outfits, I look at this now and think it looks a little messy but I'm in a bit of shirt and suit stage at the moment. I suppose my aesthetic is always changing !
Anyway... I'm still in Cornwall but I'll be returning to London at the end of the week, very excited to go back. However, before that I'm going to a talk at my mums gallery (Penny MacBeth Gallery) on Tarot Imagery, in fact this witchy look would be the perfect outfit !

Cornwall
So I am home in Cornwall. Its been amazing weather, I haven't done very much but there is something so lovely about doing very little! I have started listing some of my life possessions on ebay and planned an amazing outfit for the next preview at Penny MacBeth Gallery . I am here for another two weeks, it seems like ages but time goes so quickly here !
